Inspired by the productions of Meiji Japan, which was opening up to the rest of the world, Western artists, particularly the French, were inspired by them. The movement called “Japonisme” was born and from it flowed Art Nouveau.
Similar models are on display at the Musée d’Orsay, Paris.
In excellent condition. Metal cleaned and protected with wax. Electricity OK.
