Pair of 1970s Scandinavian Wood-Shaving Sconces

A rare and beautifully handcrafted matching pair of sconces made from delicate, thin wood shavings. Created in Sweden during the 1970s by a women’s cooperative—part of a long-standing junta tradition, where artisans gathered to preserve and reinterpret traditional crafts—these lamps embody both rustic charm and modernist Scandinavian sensibility.

Each sconce features gracefully arranged wood shavings forming an intricate floral-inspired design. When lit, the shades cast a warm, atmospheric glow, highlighting the natural textures and grain of the wood. The simplicity of form, combined with artisanal detail, transforms these functional lamps into sculptural works of art.

Large sconce: 12cm high x 27.5cm diameter (4.72″ x 10.82″) — excellent condition

Small sconce: 8cm high x 20cm diameter (3.1″ x 7.87″) — with two minor hairline splits, otherwise very good condition
