Italy – 1975-1999 – Plastic.
Couple of pendant kartell lamps, model fl/y, blue and pink, 80’s, 90`s – Italy.
Couple of pendant lamps in blue and pink, designed by Ferruccio Laviani, a prestigious Italian architect and designer, with an internationally recognized style. This is the FL/Y model, one of its hallmarks, an icon of the brand, Kartell, and the artist. They are made in Altuglas, a very malleable material, which allows to make forms as complicated as this, without losing the hardness. It is a combination of acrylic thermoplastic resins, with which a flexible and light material is achieved, known as “acrylic glass.” It is the perfect combination between resistance and a perfect finish, of excellent optical clarity.
The particular transparency of the material and the brightness of the colors reminds the flashes produced by a soap bubble with the light reflexes. In addition, the screen shape is not perfectly halfpheric, but the intersection plane is a bit below the height of the diameter, to collect the greatest amount of light. Ferruccio’s unique and pioneer design makes this lamp an exclusive and modern product.
