Fog & Mørup, Denmark.
Designed by Jo Hammerborg early in his 23-year tenure as Head of Design at Fog & Mørup (1957–1980), the Lento desk lamp exemplifies his modernist vision and technical precision.
This model features a flat, round light grey-painted metal base, two slender light grey metal rods, and a distinctive white double-cylinder metal lampshade. Chrome detailing at the joint adds a subtle industrial contrast. The lamp is fitted with its original inline on/off switch, a European two-pin plug, and accommodates a standard E27 Edison screw bulb (max 60W).
Though designed between 1957 and 1962, the Lento first appeared in the Fog & Mørup catalog in 1967. By 1969, the lamp series expanded to include the Junior floor lamp and the Alfa wall lamp, both sharing a cohesive visual language. The Studio floor lamp—frequently seen in mid-century film interiors—bears a strong resemblance to the Junior and is part of the same family.
Produced in a variety of colours, the Lento is equally suited for use as a desk or bedside lamp. It remains a rare and sought-after piece on the vintage market, admired for its architectural clarity and place within the canon of Danish modern design.
