Best Pamono Impiccato Counterweight Ceiling Lamp by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, 1972, 1970s

As Magistretti explains well, the Impiccato lamp, present in the Artemide catalog since 1972, was born from the need to solve a typical problem of the configuration of the interiors of houses: «usually, in dining rooms, they make the connection for the lamp to center of the room, and so if you want to put the table in a corner you’re screwed.”

The lamp, which is made up of a tube parallel to the ceiling to which a counterweight and the diffuser of the lamp itself is hung, allows you to easily change the position of the lamp so as to free up the choice of positioning the furnishings, in particular the table. Also adjustable in height, the Impiccato lamp, like other famous precedents (Arco lamp, Castiglioni, 1962), represents the overcoming of the rigidity imposed by classic suspension lamps while maintaining their functionality intact.
